IHI – Innovative Health Initiative launch – Information event 26th January

Introducing the Innovative Health Initiative: Europe’s new partnership for health

Former IMI (Innovative Medicines Initiative) turns into IHI (Innovative Health Initiative). IHI is a partnership between the European Union and industry associations representing the sectors involved in healthcare, namely COCIR (medical imaging, radiotherapy, health ICT and electromedical industries); EFPIA, including Vaccines Europe (pharmaceutical industry and vaccine industry); EuropaBio (biotechnology industry); and MedTech Europe (medical technology industry).

IHI’s objectives are set out in the legislation creating IHI. General objectives are to:

  • turn health research and innovation into real benefits for patients and society;
  • deliver safe, effective health innovations that cover the entire spectrum of care – from prevention to diagnosis and treatment – particularly in areas where there is an unmet public health need;
  • make Europe’s health industries globally competitive.

EU Missions Work Programme Published and Info Days on the Call on 18 and 19 January 2022

EU Missions Work Programme is published. The first mission research and innovation actions (RIAs) can be found on the portal, these include direct support to key overarching EU priorities, such as the European Green Deal, a Europe fit for the Digital Age, the Beating Cancer action plan and an Economy that works for people.

The Commission invites researchers and innovators as well as citizens and all interested stakeholders to take part in the five missions:
