Our legal affairs unit is experienced in drafting data management plans, data sharing agreements and data governance frameworks for research projects (including health data for research, which is the most complex and sensitive type of personal data), complying with ethical considerations, local law and European directives, and aligned with the health data sharing focus pursued by the EC. With a deep understanding of the GDPR, the DGA, the EU AI Act and the new EHDS regulation, a wide array of legal and contractual strategic approaches are to be considered and customised to each project’s reality. Responsible research and innovation (RRI)

Responsible research and innovation (RRI) is an approach that anticipates and assesses potential implications and societal expectations with regard to research and innovation, with the aim to foster the design of inclusive and sustainable research and innovation.

We support research centres (especially in the field of health research) to boost their RRI strategy and to promote cultural change within their researchers and support staff. The aim of our services not only relates to foster the development of a fair, transparent and close to society research, but also to help you in achieving certifications of standards of quality.

RRI implies that societal actors (researchers, citizens, policy makers, business, third sector organisations, etc.) work together during the whole research and innovation process to better align both the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society.

RRI is our commitment to creating a better future. We integrate ethical considerations, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable practices into every stage of our research and innovation projects.

We have expertise in embedding RRI dimensions within national and European projects (eg: Horizon Europe, EU4Health, EIT Health, ERASMUS+)

Our methodology

Anticipation and Reflection: Proactively identifying and assessing potential impacts (positive and negative) on society, the environment, and ethics.

Inclusion and Diversity: Involving diverse stakeholders (public, policymakers, industry, etc.) in research and innovation processes.

Openness and Transparency: Sharing research findings, methodologies, and data openly to foster trust and accountability.

Responsiveness and Adaptability: Being open to feedback, adjusting research and innovation directions as needed, and fostering dialogue.

Sustainability: Considering the long-term consequences of research and innovation on the environment, economy, and society.

RRI Actions

Stakeholder Engagement: We facilitate meaningful dialogue and collaboration between your project team and relevant stakeholders (e.g., communities, policymakers, NGOs). This ensures diverse perspectives are considered, builds trust, and increases the project's societal relevance.
We connect you with the people your work affects. Our stakeholder engagement workshops foster collaboration, build trust, and ensure your project aligns with community needs and expectations.

RRI Audits and Impact Assessments: We systematically evaluate the potential social, ethical, economic, and environmental impacts of your research or innovation project. This helps you identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement early on.
Our impact assessments ensure your project not only succeeds but also creates positive, lasting change. We analyze potential consequences and help you make informed decisions.

Ethical Reviews: We thoroughly review your project's ethics, ensuring it adheres to the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and respect for human rights. We help you navigate complex ethical dilemmas and make decisions that are both morally sound and strategically beneficial.
Our ethical reviews give you peace of mind. We ensure your project aligns with ethical principles, mitigating risks and building a strong foundation for success.

RRI Strategy Development: We work with you to develop a customized RRI strategy that aligns with your project goals and values. This includes defining RRI principles, setting objectives, and outlining actionable steps to integrate RRI into every phase of your project.
We tailor RRI to fit your unique needs. Our RRI strategy development services provide you with a roadmap for responsible, ethical, and impactful innovation.

RRI Communication and Reporting: Help you effectively communicate your RRI efforts to stakeholders and the public.

GEP Plans: Support on Gender Equality Plans (GEP) elaboration, development, and application.

RRI Training and Workshops: We offer training sessions and workshops to educate your team on RRI principles, methodologies, and best practices. This empowers your organization to embed RRI into its culture and processes.

We equip your team with the knowledge and skills to implement and sustain RRI successfully. Our training programs foster a culture of responsible innovation, ensuring your projects are both successful and beneficial to society.
