TRUSTroke is developing an AI-based platform designed to enhance the management of ischemic stroke during both acute and chronic phases. The platform, which integrates clinical data, patient-reported outcomes, and experiences, focuses on ensuring privacy and building trust in AI applications for healthcare. It aims to provide personalized management strategies, inter-hospital benchmarking, and facilitate the sharing of best practices in stroke care. TRUSTroke specifically targets reducing the risks associated with stroke severity at discharge, clinical deterioration leading to hospital readmissions, poor mobility, incomplete recovery, unfavorable long-term outcomes, and stroke recurrence. By utilizing a Federated Learning infrastructure, the platform allows multiple clinical sites to collaboratively develop AI models without compromising patient privacy, adhering to top security and privacy protocols. The platform will also leverage FAIRified data from leading European hospitals and remote patient monitoring systems to train and validate AI models for predicting stroke risks and personalizing assessments of cardiovascular risks and treatment compliance. Designed to be transparent, explainable, robust, accountable, accurate, and secure, TRUSTroke commits to compliance with established FAIR guidelines and trustworthy AI system standards. The effectiveness and trustworthiness of the platform will be validated through user experience studies and a final proof of concept clinical study conducted by top stroke centers
