The process

Description

The Human Uterus Cell Atlas (HUTER) project is focused on developing a comprehensive single-cell and spatial reference map of the human uterus, offering a deep exploration of transcriptomic, genomic, and spatial variations throughout the menstrual cycle and across different life stages. The project aims to provide detailed insights into this critical reproductive organ, which holds significant importance not only in reproductive health but also in broader aspects of women’s health. By advancing the Human Cell Atlas, HUTER seeks to enhance research and clinical applications in fields like Obstetrics and Gynecology, Regenerative Medicine, and Reproductive Medicine. The uterus is particularly interesting for regenerative medicine due to its dynamic cellular changes during the menstrual cycle and the remarkable regenerative abilities of the myometrial tissue during pregnancy. This comprehensive mapping effort is driven by the need to improve understanding of the uterus to better tackle uterine diseases such as myomas, endometriosis, and conditions contributing to infertility, and infant and maternal health issues. HUTER’s technological and biological platform will serve as a vital resource for the scientific and clinical communities, facilitating the rapid development of new diagnostic, prognostic tools, and therapeutic approaches.
