E-TAG was a Eurostars-2 funded project (cut-off 8) that aimed to develop a new generation of fully integrated RFID textile tags for use in the fashion industry. The innovation lay in embedding RFID functionality directly into fabrics during production, enabling seamless identification, tracking, and interaction of garments throughout their lifecycle—from manufacturing and retail to consumer use and recycling.
By leveraging advances in printed electronics, textile integration, and wearable technologies, E-TAG addressed the growing demand for smart fashion solutions that support traceability, anti-counterfeiting, supply chain efficiency, and enhanced customer interaction. The project outcomes were particularly relevant for circular economy models and digital product passports in the textile sector.
The E-TAG consortium brought together expertise in wearable and smart textiles from Spain and Germany, ensuring cross-disciplinary collaboration and early industrial validation.
