Description

ROLL‑E focuses on advancing alkaline exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) by developing mass‑produced, self‑supported layered double hydroxide (LDH) electrodes using a novel wet roll‑to‑roll process. This method bypasses extreme temperatures, pressures, and corrosive conditions required by traditional batch synthesis, thereby reducing costs and improving scalability for large‑scale applications. The project builds on promising ERC‑StG research led by Dr. G. Abellán and targets validating performance and stability of these electrodes in relevant environments to bridge the gap between lab innovation and marketable green hydrogen technologies.
